Franstine Jones

My Mission
To educate people about the effects of prejudice, discrimination, and inequality so that they can recognise it and challenge it within themselves and others.
My Passion
I am driven by the effect of that aha moment, when people start to understand how bias, prejudice and inequality can absolutely have a detrimental impact on people throughout their lives and of those around them.
My Profession
I am a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development graduate, who specialises in equality, diversity and inclusion, discrimination, and employment law. Over the last 20 years I have worked with organisations, educational institutions, and businesses to help them identify the gaps in their equality and diversity policies, so that they can effectively implement the changes needed to mitigate any challenges and find resolutions to these issues. I have also worked with community organisations to enable them to challenge issues at a grassroot level.
My Vocation
I use my lived experience of discrimination, prejudice, stereotyping, and inequality to raise awareness of the detrimental impact this can have on peoples’ mental health, productivity and social identity in society. I do this by influencing change by being a school governor, an independent member on the Suffolk Police and Crime Panel, a Board member, and an Independent Director of the University of Suffolk. I Chair the Suffolk Stop and Search Reference Group. I am very proud to have been recognised in the Queen 2022 New Year’s Honours List for services to policing as the First elected female President of the National Black Police Association and for services to the Black community in Suffolk.
