Tierra McDonald is a dynamic advocate for Black women in STEM and an innovative leader in project management. As a proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Tierra has navigated a transformative career path from environmental and process engineering to the tech industry. Her journey is a testament to leveraging transferable skills and embracing non-traditional routes into technology.
Tierra not only put in the work to find her lane and join her passions with her strengths but wanted to give others the courage to do the same through representation. Tierra pivoted into project management as her entry to the tech industry, earning a tech project management certification from Rice University. This career transition was partially influenced by Tierra choosing to prioritize her mental health as a double minority in the STEM industry. She has since thrived as a project management contractor. Tierra is also the Founder of T. Mack & Co. Consulting, which is a project management consulting business, focusing on nonprofits and small businesses.
Tierra is passionate about mentorship and advocacy, actively supporting Black girls in STEM through her work with the New York Academy of Sciences, STEM So(ul)cial, and GTA Black Women in Tech. She enjoys creating relatable social media content that inspires others to explore tech careers without the need for coding skills. As a digital nomad, she merges her love for travel with her career, embodying the future of work.
Her story of adaptability and resilience is not just about personal success, but about inspiring others to pursue their passions and redefine their paths in the tech industry.
