Nyla Efiom is a Senior Project Manager with a career built on persistence, self-discovery, and purpose. Her journey into project management wasn’t linear, it grew from a series of reinventions, each one guided by her belief that it’s never too late to begin again with focus.
After returning to education in her 30s and earning a law degree SOAS University of London, Nyla found herself drawn to the structure and problem-solving nature of project delivery. During the UK lockdown, she self-funded her first formal qualification in project management and from there, carved out a new path.
Since 2021, Nyla has worked across multiple sectors, including tech, media, professional services, and healthcare, where she has led and contributed to complex off-payroll legislation (IR35) and compliance programmes. Her approach blends regulatory clarity with human-centred thinking, and she has become known for translating difficult policy into meaningful, practical outcomes for organisations and people alike.
While her professional growth is grounded in structure and delivery, Nyla’s deeper passion lies in empowering others. She currently mentors aspiring Black professionals stepping into project management and change-focused roles, offering not only guidance, but the kind of support she once wished she had. She is also laying the groundwork for a platform that will offer digital tools and 1-2-1 mentoring for early, mid-career professionals and those wanting to transition into project-based careers.
Her story is still being written but it’s one defined by reinvention, resilience, and the quiet power of deciding to grow, even when the path isn’t always clear.
Whether she’s managing delivery across governance functions or coaching a mentee through their first stakeholder meeting, Nyla aims to bring empathy, integrity, and lived experience into every space she enters.
