Nanri’s Biography

Nanri Ouakhilatou Torou is a software engineer, innovator, speaker, and advocate for inclusive technology.

Born and raised in Cotonou, Benin Republic, she grew up in a family where education was both a cherished value and a hard-earned dream. With a background in Telecommunications Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, she made a successful transition from digital marketing and graphic design into software engineering.

She currently contributes to the sports tech industry through TeamSportz, an AI platform that enables athletes, teams and sport academies to improve their performance and understanding of the game whilst enhancing health and wellbeing. Alongside her full-time role, she also works as a part-time teaching assistant at Niyo Group, where she supports the next generation of tech talent—especially women seeking to break into the industry.

Beyond her professional work, Ouakhilatou is developing a personal project that offers mentorship to female students in Benin who are pursuing or transitioning into tech careers. She is deeply committed to creating opportunities for others and building inclusive spaces within the tech ecosystem.

In 2022, she and her team were awarded first prize for the most innovative app tackling the cost of living crisis during Birmingham Tech Week. Passionate about immersive technology and education, she was also named one of the winners of Colorintech’s 100 Worlds VR programme (in partnership with Meta) for her project Science for All—an immersive learning experience designed to make science more accessible.

In recognition of her growing impact, Ouakhilatou was named a finalist in the Developer of the Year category at the Black Tech Achievement Awards.She continues to use her journey to inspire, mentor, and open doors for others—especially young women—who aspire to thrive in tech. Her story is a testament to what’s possible when determination meets opportunity.
