Maysa Bashraheel is a software developer who transitioned into tech nearly five years ago, following earlier careers as a research scientist and secondary school teacher. She has since built digital solutions across healthcare, education, defense, and technology—combining a passion for problem-solving with a commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
Maysa has worked as a software engineer at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence and was an intern at the University of Oxford’s Zooniverse project. Her scientific research was conducted at the University of Manchester within the Manchester Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research, where she co-authored peer-reviewed publications.
With over a decade of experience across sectors, she has taught in underserved inner-city communities, helped develop high-performing software products, and consistently championed diversity in tech. She is also a speaker and mentor, having delivered talks for organisations including Barclays, Coding Black Females and the BBC.
Maysa runs a tutoring business focused on supporting children in care and is currently based in Manchester.
