Joy’s Biography

Joy Emedom is a seasoned technology professional with over thirteen years of experience across various sectors, currently a Data Protection Manager and Solution Architect at Avanade. Known for her strategic insight and leadership in technology and cybersecurity, Joy is committed to empowering others through robust mentoring and innovative community initiatives.

As the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the FGGC Alumni, Joy led her team to inaugurate the first National Executive for the alumni, significantly strengthening the alumni network’s organizational structure. Under her leadership, the first Annual General Meeting was hosted, which led to the refurbishment of the school’s clinic, highlighting her ability to drive meaningful community projects.

Joy is Head of Communications for TechStylers Community and contributes to Cybersafe Foundation as a mentor, where she focuses on ensuring her mentees receive the guidance and support needed t to succeed in their cybersecurity career through one-on-one mentoring sessions.

She is the founder of Mama Cybershield, where they recently celebrated a significant milestone, completing its first cohort with seven mothers graduating, now poised to advance their careers in cybersecurity and online children safety. This achievement underscores Joy’s vision of creating transformative opportunities for underrepresented groups in tech.

Her mentoring skills were prominently displayed during the 2023 In-Housed Fuel Hackathon, leading her team to a commendable second-place finish. She is also a sought-after speaker, sharing her expertise at prominent events like Women in Tech 2023 and the Evolve Conference 2023.

Due to her desire to create an enabling environment for those who want to get into tech, she developed a specialized program called “Microsoft Security for Beginners Pathway,” which outlines a structured approach to learning and mastering cybersecurity concepts using Microsoft Security solutions.
