Annette’s Biography

Annette Obika Mbatha is the Head of Operations at a biotech company reshaping the world of biology and drug discovery. Born in Botswana to a family of Nigerian heritage, she was drawn to the sciences from a young age – with biology and chemistry always her top subjects at school. She went on to study Psychology before completing an MBA, a combination that would prove instrumental in a career bridging the worlds of science, technology, and business. Annette spent nearly eight years at Google DeepMind, progressing from talent coordinator to managing multi-year research programmes. She is passionate about equitable access to transformative technologies and has launched multiple initiatives (both personally and professionally) working towards making that a reality.
