Akua Opong is a Senior Analyst within Service Management at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and joined in 2019 with over eight years in the industry from Automotive, Consulting and Financial Services.
Akua has been a driving force in diversity and inclusion, internally at LSEG and within Technology, highlighting the need for diversity in STEM. She recently became a Culture Champion for Technology, Cloud and Infrastructure at LSEG. Currently, she is involved in onboarding employees, post-Covid return to the office, Hybrid working and the laptop deployment rollout in the EMEA region.
She currently is an active member of the BEING network, Regional EMEA Lead for the Accessibility Network, Community Lead for the Women’s Inspired Network and a Mental Health Advocate for Wellbeing alongside her daily role in Technology. She has been mentoring interns and graduates at LSEG to help them in their career development.
Since joining in 2019, she has acted as an LSEG Business Sponsor to provide mentoring and volunteering to primary/secondary schools around the UK through Skills builder, School Home Support (SHS) and Young Enterprise. This links with her role as a Cajigo Mentor to encourage 10,000 girls into STEM careers and as a Mentor for Inclusive Careers. Every month she delivers career talks in schools and non-profit organisations as a STEM ambassador.
Akua continues to drive charity and volunteering initiatives across the LSEG group, mainly working with school children from 50+ schools UK wide to deliver essential workplace skills and equipment. During Covid-19, Akua help raised money and participated in fundraising initiatives to help 20+ charities globally.
She has featured in Investment Week, Forbes, FinTech and become a guest blog on multiple publications and a panellist for One Tech World conference 2021 discussing Harnessing Neurodiversity in Tech.
Akua is a neurodiversity advocate (self identifies as Dyslexic and has ADD), a fundraiser, Team London ambassador, and charity volunteer. She is a keen sports volunteer for Netball England and British Athletics.
