Head of Policy, Research and Campaigns (maternity cover)
Glitch was born out of our frustration and ambition that tech companies and we as citizens can and should do better to create safe, inclusive online spaces. Over the last five years, we’ve worked tirelessly to place women’s online safety and digital citizenship on the map.
We’re a small-to-medium sized charity, building a knowledgeable and inclusive team that is creative, agile and dynamic. We’re values driven and aim to lead by example by being brave and committed to doing charity differently. Our work is focused around four key areas: Awareness, Advocacy, Action and Anchor.
We’re looking for someone to take a lead on our advocacy work, whilst our permanent Head of Policy, Research and Campaigns is on maternity leave. You will help us to lobby governments, tech companies and encourage general society to prioritise, pay attention to and take action when it comes to online abuse through stronger, clearer legislation and policy. You will lead on all policy work, including outside of the UK, and you will shape our AI research and policy work. You’ll also line manage and support the Policy and Campaigns Manager.
For this role, you will have experience in research, policy influencing or campaigning at a management level and will understand what this looks like in a Black feminist, racial justice or gender based violence context. You’ll have experience of leading policy work or research at a strategic level. You bring good knowledge of online abuse or AI harms with a fundamental understanding of the experiences of Black women and other marginalised communities online.
This is a full-time, remote role that is fixed term to cover a period of maternity leave. We offer great flexible working conditions and a range of employee benefits including unlimited annual leave, generous employer pension contributions, enhanced family leave policies, an Employee Assistance Programme and a commitment to learning and development.
The current salary range for this role is £40,000 to £45,000. We are about to apply a pay award and, due to growth in funding and the team, we are anticipating a c.10% pay award. Therefore, the expected salary by the time the successful candidate commences in post would be £44,000 to £49,500.
We’re proud of the work we do to create a fairer and more just world. We are a diverse, intersectional organisation and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
You can view the full recruitment pack on our website. The closing date is Monday 13th February at noon.
If you’re excited to help shape the future of a growing and ambitious charity, we’d love to hear from you.
