Comms Support Ambassador

The Comms Support Ambassador is a key team member responsible for managing communication channels, fostering engagement, and showcasing the accomplishments of Black women in tech and relevant tech news. This role involves overseeing platforms like Slack and LinkedIn, as well as implementing features like “Woman of the Week” to highlight notable achievements.
- Monitor and Engage in Slack Discussions:
- Actively monitor Slack channels to stay informed about ongoing discussions.
- Engage with community members, answer inquiries, and contribute to relevant conversations.
- Facilitate a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the Slack community.
- Coordinate and Schedule Social Media Posts:
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule posts across various social media platforms.
- Ensure timely and consistent communication of important updates, events, and announcements.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align social media efforts with overall communication goals.
- Feature a Notable Woman in Tech Each Week:
- Identify and showcase the achievements of a prominent woman in the tech industry each week.
- Research and gather information about their contributions, experiences, and impact.
- Create engaging content to spotlight and celebrate the featured individual.
- Contribute to the Overall Communication Strategy:
- Work collaboratively with the communications team to contribute ideas and strategies.
- Provide input on content creation, branding, and messaging.
- Assist in developing and executing communication plans for various initiatives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively in both online discussions and social media platforms.
- Social Media Proficiency: Familiarity with major social media platforms and the ability to create engaging content.
- Community Management Experience: Previous experience in managing online communities, fostering engagement, and resolving issues.
- Content Creation: Strong research and content creation skills to feature notable women in tech effectively.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with the communications team and contribute to the development of communication strategies.
Commitment & requirements:
This volunteer position has a moderate time commitment, involving regional event attendance, monthly meetings, and collaboration with local ambassadors.
- Complete 2 posts minimum per week such as “The Black Woman In Tech of The Week and tech news on LinkedIn
- Write 1 blog/article every quarter for GTA Black Women In Tech which provides tips, strategies or industry news
- Attend, as a representative of GTA Black Women, 1 tech event every quarter to make new relevant connections to support our vision & mission. (GTA Head office can provide a list of key events to attend)
- 1 hour a month to meet your regional ambassador and team of ambassadors
- Ad-hoc support your team of ambassadors as necessary
