Our Culture

Our success as a bank cannot be separated from our culture. The power of who we are is greatest when we are bound together by a common Purpose, shared Values – and a single Mindset, which shapes how we get things done, always with our customers and clients at the heart of what we do.

When you join Barclays, you become part of a culture where you can bring your true self to work and make a genuine contribution.

Growing together through diversity, equity and inclusion

At Barclays, we’re addressing the challenges faced by diverse communities. We hire inclusively, to support diversity of thought right across the business – creating an environment for diverse talent at all levels to flourish. We believe that every individual should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and achieve their personal and professional goals.

To create the kind of community we can all feel at home in, we focus on six pillars of diversity and inclusion: Multigenerational, Gender, LGBTQ+, Multicultural, Disability and Socio-economic. Valuing the perspectives of colleagues from diverse backgrounds enables us to better understand our customers, clients and the communities we serve and also strengthens our culture, encourages innovation and enables us to make better decisions.

Supporting our communites

We believe that a strong, inclusive economy is a better economy for everyone. Through our global Citizenship programmes, Digital Eagles and LifeSkills, Barclays is helping businesses to create jobs and enabling people to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed now and in the future. Barclays works together with experienced partners, employability experts and businesses that are hiring to develop meaningful and innovative programmes that deliver a significant positive impact over the long term.

In doing this we:
